Can you smile through the phone? Sift through information in conversation to determine how best to help someone? St. Michael Parish in Augusta, Maine is seeking a smiling face with great "customer service" to join our Parish Administrative Team. As the first point of contact for the Pastoral Office, you will greet people in person and on the phone making them feel welcome and communicate the love of Christ to our brothers and sisters in Christ and to those who are seeking. As an integral part of our Welcome Team, you will help keep the Pastoral Office humming by helping visitors find answers to their questions, providing connections to clergy and staff, and having a general "pulse-beat" of things happening throughout the Parish in order to answer inquiries about on-going or up-coming activities.
Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a practicing Catholic who understands the ins-and-outs of the faith or is willing to be respectful of the Catholic tradition and learn. Attention to detail is critical to the success of this position, as is being able to make sound decisions in the moment, the ability to juggle multiple priorities, and a willingness to contribute to the overall functioning of the Pastoral Office. The candidate is organized, loves to bring people into the group and enjoys talking with people, while knowing how to move people through a process to achieve desired outcomes. Database and scheduling software experience necessary. Our new receptionist must be a team player and understands we all serve Christ by serving one another.
About the Parish St. Michael Parish is Central Maine's Catholic Community. Our Pastoral Center is located in Augusta, and we have six worship sites – St. Augustine and St. Mary of the Assumption, both in Augusta, St. Joseph in Gardiner, Sacred Heard in Hallowell, St. Denis in Whitefield, and St. Francis Xavier in Winthrop – along with St. Michael Catholic School.
