In an effort to thank area law enforcement officials while raising money for one in need, St. Michael Catholic School will hold a charity basketball game on Friday, February 27, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the gym at the school located on 56 Sewall Street in Augusta.
A collaboration between St. Michael Catholic School in Augusta and Parish Social Ministry, a program of Catholic Charities Maine, has generated over 1500 blank greeting cards for area seniors and educated the students on the importance of living out the Catholic Church’s call to service.
Bishop Robert P. Deeley has named Jim King as the new superintendent of Maine Catholic Schools, effective July 1, 2015. King, currently the interim director of elementary schools for the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA), will succeed Fr. Louis J. Phillips, Ph.D., who has served as interim superintendent since July 1, 2014.
AUGUSTA---Helping students understand the importance of serving others is a central theme of Maine Catholic Schools Week (Jan. 25-31). At St. Michael Catholic School in Augusta, faculty and staff hope that one particular activity will serve as a springboard to a lifetime of giving back.
