Dedicated in the early 19th century, St. Patrick Church in Newcastle is the oldest Catholic Church in New England. It houses both the altar of Bishop Cheverus and a bell cast by Paul Revere that rings out to welcome visitors. But each corner and adornment of the elegant red brick sanctuary has a story.

As our community works to welcome hundreds of asylum seekers to Portland, I wish to offer ways in which Maine residents who are looking to assist in the efforts can help. Please remember that these individuals and families are filled with anxiety and fear about what will happen to them.

Bishop Robert P. Deeley is pleased to announce that Marianne Pelletier has been named the new superintendent of Maine Catholic Schools. Pelletier, who is currently the principal of Saint Dominic Academy’s Lewiston campus, succeeds Jim King who has served as superintendent since July of 2015.
