Seeking to raise awareness about the problems of teen addiction, depression, and suicide and to pray for those affected by them, 11 teenagers will set off on a 70-mile pilgrimage that will take them from Augusta to Bangor.
PORTLAND---Dioceses in four New England states (Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont) have launched a third-party, independent system for individuals to report abuse by Catholic bishops. It is designed to confidentially receive information reporting possible violations by bishops in the dioceses that make up the Boston Province: Archdiocese of Boston (MA), Diocese of Fall River (MA), Diocese of Worcester (MA), Diocese of Springfield (MA), Diocese of Burlington (VT), Diocese of Manchester (NH), and Diocese of Portland (ME).
Bishop Robert P. Deeley is pleased to announce that Denis Lafreniere, Jr., has been named the new director of the Office of Property Management for the Diocese of Portland. Lafreniere will succeed James Somma, who is retiring after serving as director since 2000.
